Adventures in the Creative Industries

Building a bagel fuelled empire

Episode Summary

After opening her first bagel shop in Portobello two years ago, local legend Larah Bross started a bagel fuelled movement in an Hole-less Edinburgh. Bross Bagel went from small to Edinburgh icon in less than 12 months making Larah a food celebrity. We have a great time talking starting a business, life choices, and the effort it takes to build an idea up into a success.

Episode Notes

Larah's journey is one of the most exciting I ever heard. From starting as an entertainer on a Disney cruise ship to briefly finding herself living the high life in New York her story is a roller-coaster. Working hard to make it in the entertaining industry Larah supported herself working as a Bartender in an exclusive club in New York where she learned the rope of customer service, which came in handy years later. From acting to comedy we touch on the hardship of making people laugh and life in the industry.
Is not until an intense experience as documentarian go south that Larah embraces the idea of life in academia; a bad turn that blossoms into finally opening the bagel shop that Edinburgh was missing.

You could possibly find Larah Bross in one of her shops or online here: https://brossbagels.com/[Twitter
